Baseball is largely known as an American pastime. As with many sports, and perhaps even more so, statistics are very important to baseball. You will find information about statistics and much more at US Baseball News .com.
Change. 16 year old Japanese High School student Eri Yoshida smashed gender barriers after being drafted by the independent professional baseball team Kobe 9 Cruise. Standing at 5 feet and weighing in at 115 lbs, Yoshida pitches a very impressive side-arm knuckle ball. Her recent signing gives her the distinction of being the first lady in Profession Baseball in Japan to play against men. Eri is quoted as being inspired by Boston Red Sox knuckleballer Tim Wakefield and hopes to progress to t

Oregon State buried Houston 69-47 on Wednesday in a women’s basketball game that wasn’t anywhere close as close as that lopsided score would indicate. The Beavers led by 30 laste in the first half and sort of played out the string from there, as their early intensity disappeared after halftime. The Beavers won their first two games by a combined 77 points. Granted, Sacramento State, a 100-45 victim on Nov. 16, isn’t very good, but the Cougars were 2-0 and should be not less than a middle-of-the

I first played email-tag with BaseballdeWorld founder and Chief Editor Marvin Moore early last spring. The reclusive, hermit-like former sports editor and Swiss national baseball team manager was a deeply private individual (who shunned baseball forums and message boards) who walked away from the game a decade ago determined to live a normal life. Moore was a standout prep baseball player at Seagoville High School close Dallas (Texas) where he hit .478 and was the team Offensive Player of the Y

Seattle Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik announced in a press conference that Wakamatsu, 45, had been hired to reverse the fortunes of a team that posted one of baseball's worst records in 2008. "We wanted someone who sees the big picture and cares about the players and

During my week in Arizona at the Royals scout school, I came in contact with a great deal of people and made numerous friends. I’m already closer to some of the guys I met in Surprise than I am to many people I look and talk to everyday. I guess there IS something to the fraternity of baseball. Anyway, one of the guys I got to know well while at scout school was former Major League outfielder, Roosevelt Brown. “Rosey,” as we got to know him, was also a student in the class. He wasn’t the only

It’s easy to look back at a league you just lost in and arrive up with several ‘What ifs’ that would’ve led your team to victory. I’m going to take a look at one of my expert league teams that sucked it - coming in 8th out of 12 in a league set up by Brock for Broglio and co-won by Tim Dierkes of RotoAuthority and Tim McLeod of Rotorob. Rotonomics finished a disappointing 10th, obviously hobbled by their Timlessness. I finished with 57.5 points. The co-winners finished with 95 points. How mu

NICARAGUA - Former major league “iron man” Cal Ripken was forced to cancel a youth baseball clinic in Nicaragua on Tuesday due to political protests and road blocks. Sponsors shelved the final clinic in Leon because protesters were blocking major roads in and outside of the city. The U.S. Embassy said that organizers were concerned parents and the youth participants would not be able to attend. Protests surrounding recent local election have resulted in opposition party supporters clashing wi

If you were lucky enough, you had the 1984 Donruss Mattingly. In 1984 he was 5th in MVP voting, in 1985 he won it outright and in 1986 he came in second. His cards started spiralling out of control. I remember the Donruss going for nearly $75 in tardy 1986. Here was a guy on America’s team, who

by DMtShooter, Five Tool Tool 10. Team and/or league failures. Yes, the Dow Jones goes up and down, and assuming you aren't retiring any minute now, it's usually best not make yourself too crazy over it. But nearly 40% of the value of *the entire damn thing* has more or less disappeared in the last six months or so. A similar, um, correction, has happened to the value of housing. I receive that teams are toys for people who have more money than they know what to do with, but the math is the mat

After a week in which Oklahoma City’s big league franchise lost every four of its games by an average margin of 16 points, this seemed like the perfect time to start a weekly column chronicling the inaugural season of Thunder basketball. When Patrick suggested this column handing out weekly awards he wanted to call it “Clark Matthews Thunderwear”. I vetoed the title thinking it sounded like I was promoting NBA apparel. He came back with “Clark Matthews’ Dirty Thunderwear”. Eventually, we were a

Interview conducted by Adam Dodge - Angelswin.com Senior Writer Angels third base coach Dino Ebel took time out of his busy off-season to answer questions exclusively for the Angelswin.com online community. Angelswin.com: During the regular season we hear so often from (Manager) Mike Scioscia, after a tough loss, things like “we need to turn the page.” You can’t really do that after a post-season loss. Sometimes I receive in the habit of not being able to look the forest for the trees. Today is one of those days. I woke up with a screaming headache and was instantly grateful that the Little Imp was at Montessori today. Then I remembered that the hubby had an ass-crack-o'-the-morning early meeting and wouldn't be able to drop her off, as is the norm for the days she goes to school. Crap! That meant I had to lug my big behemoth of an ass out of bed and bundle up and take the Little Imp i
